Autumn is in full swing and Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and at the McClain Group we are more than ready to embrace the season! The best part about the holidays is gathering with friends and family and entertaining in a warm and welcoming environment. However, hosting for the holidays doesn’t need to be overwhelming! Check out these easy fall decorating tips we have compiled to get your home ready for guests. Sit back, relax, grab a glass of spiked cider and enjoy!
Start with your Front Door
Freshen up your front porch with pumpkins, gourds, and some potted mums to brighten up the space and bring some rustic charm to your doorstep. Don’t forget to dress up the front door. Try a simple DIY wreath this season with simple supplies such as: fresh magnolia leaves, hot glue, a wreath form, and spray paint. Use the same spray paint to liven up a basic doormat. Create stencils using cardboard and cut out basic shapes or letters to welcome your guests into your home.
Fire up your Fireplace
Nothing feels more welcoming than a warm and cozy fireplace. Before firing up the first kindling of the season, have the chimney and firebox inspected and cleaned by a professional. Take advantage of the open mantle to further decorate your indoor space. In addition to fun family photos, add some fresh blooms in an autumn color palette and some yummy smelling candles or unscented candlesticks in brass holders.
Warm up your Indoor Space
Fall’s colder weather will naturally add layers to your wardrobe, use this same rule for warming up your indoor furniture. Swap out your light linen pillows and blankets and replace them with velvet, chenille, wool, or even luxurious cashmere fabrics in rich fall shades. When your friends and family gather in your living room they will feel much more cozy.
Bring the Outdoors In
We realize that fall is the last chance to bring the beautiful outdoors inside before the blustery Colorado weather sets in. Venture out for a brisk hike and take the time to gather clippings of flowering plants and colorful foliage. Fill vases of different sizes with your findings and adorn the empty spaces throughout your home: the entryway, guest bedrooms, and dining tables. Create some easy to make fall leaf streamers using fishing line and pretty orange and yellow leaves. Your creation can hang from the ceiling in place of a Thanksgiving centerpiece or adorn entryways.
